  WiFi VoIP and Wireless VoIP

Wireless/WiFi VoIP offers the convenient of regular VoIP and also the mobility of a cordless phone at WiFi capable places.

Wireless/WiFi VoIP uses both WiFi and VoIP technology to offer an alternative to cell phones. The way WiFi VoIP works is like normal VoIP. But, with the help of WiFi hardware and WiFi-capable phone,  communication via VoIP becomes mobile and wireless. By having a cordless phone which runs off of wireless VoIP, you can now make phone calls near any WiFi hotspot. You may not need your mobile phone if you are always at the places which are WiFi capable.

If you want to have wireless VoIP at your home or office, then what you need is a wireless VoIP router. You can have mobility when chatting through your VoIP system.

Drawback to Wireless/WiFi VoIP

The initial cost for a wireless/WiFi VoIP is high because a WiFi-capable phone is quite expensive.  It may costs as much as a mid-range to high-end cell phone, Also, there are not many choices to choose from currently. However, there should be more options later as the technology improves and also lower price. Despite the huge costs and limited choices of  wireless/WiFi VoIP equipment, it could still be a good investment as you would be able to save money in the long run.
